Luna moth

Actias luna

Luna moths are large beautiful silk moths with bright green wings with tails at the base. The typical wingspan of a Luna moth is 3 to 4 inches. Their body is white and fuzzy and they have eyespots on their wings. They are very majestic and beautiful moths.

Luna moths are only found in North America. This moth was found on a suburban/rural street surrounded by some woods in Media, Pennsylvania.

This particular moth was believed to be male (due to wide, luxuriant antennae) and newly hatched.
