Noctuid Owl Moth

Thysania zenobia

Description:

Noctuid moth with cryptic coloration for hiding on the bark of trees. Approximately 5 cm in body length. The underside of the wings was strikingly different. (Erebidae, Erebinae, Thermesiini, Thysania zenobia). The last 3 pictures were taken on 5 August 2013 in the same place.

Habitat:

Pine-Oak forests of San Cristobal Valley and mountains. Came to Supermarket Parking lights at night.

Thank you bayucca. I moved the pictures of Thysania zenobia to a previous spotting I put up last year. Sorry, I hadn't realized they were the same and you had already identified it. Thanks again.
