Description:

A black with white bands moth with whalebone femurs and knees around it's ears... About 22mm long, bone-white legs with large spines, mostly black colour on the upper wing surface but with faint reddish under-colour and 2 white bands, pointy mouth parts typical of Pyralidae, front-up posture.

Habitat:

This one was on an ATM machine near a national park.

Notes:

An incredibly variable moth. This is the 'Western form' which is usually found in SA and WA The pinkish ones are called the 'Eastern form' for Qld. NSW Vic, and Tas and was spotted in the same area in Sep 2013 http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/378...
