North American Alligator

Alligator mississippiensis

Description:

Large reptile alligator that was approximately 10 to 12 feet in length. The largest aligator I have seen in Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Rather large for any location.

Habitat:

Man-made wetland area. Appeared on the dike between two water areas.

Notes:

I have seen larger alligators, 15 foot in the Shark Valley National Park and 17 foot that used to be on display in Sebring Florida at a restaurant called the "Cowpoke's Watering Hole." This one was pretty large.
