Saussure's Blue-winged Grasshopper

Leprus intermedius

Description:

gray with dark splotches on it. Inside the wings was green colored.

Habitat:

My backyard. I fished it out of the swimming pool. It was swimming pretty well, but I figured it couldn't get out when it was tired.

You're very welcome! A wonderful reference for your area is: http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/ Although it's OC, most if not all of the species are also in your county. It's how I start researching many of my spottings down here in SD.

Thank you. I was excited to find it. But insects aren't in my knowledge base. Thanks for the ID.

Nice spotting! The open wings definitely helped with the ID.
