Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

Polioptila caerulea

Description:

Blue-gray Gnatcatchers are tiny, slim songbirds with long legs; a long tail; and a thin, straight bill.

Habitat:

Woodland Trail.

Notes:

In these photos: I witnessed this Gnatcatcher make several trips back and forth to this group of dandelions. Each time, it would hover for a second, before grabbing a beakful of dried dandelion and then flying off. Dandelions are a common item they use for their nests construction, so that may explain it's interest.

Interesting information - thanks. Their nests must be so soft.
