It is poop of unknown origin. Any idea what the butterfly 3 spottings back is? Looks like a dry leaf. Gold legs and gold on wings.

Awesome image of the less romantic side of butterflies. The large one is a Viceroy - Limenitis archippus, Yellow is Sleepy Orange, the small whitish ones are Eastern Tailed-blues, and the little black and orange ones are, most likely, Pearl Crescents - Phyciodes tharos.
