Dark-winged Fungus Gnat

Description:

This small black fly had a shiny humped thorax, long segmented antennae and long legs.

Habitat:

Spotted flying close ot ground amongst ground cover along a sandy track - nature reserve.

Notes:

Order: Diptera
Suborder: Nematocera
Family: Sciaridae
Larvae feed on fungus and rotting material including wood and animal matter.
