Melittia chalciformis
Melittia belongs to the Sesiidae family. Moths of this Family are good mimics. This one was "furry" with tufts on its feet. There appear to be blue dots on the wings. Bright Rust-orange colour that stands out against the green leaf.
On weedy vegetation just outside the Lodge at Kaikhali on the River Matla (Sunderbans area). This is a truly rural setting. Fertile alluvial soil means lush vegetation. Tidal movement of water means lots of ponds all around. Nothing here except fishing village ...this 4-cottage lodge and Mother Nature.
First saw this moth on PN...many years ago. Never forgot it! Never thought I would see one for real. Here it is: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/43...

Yes, Thank you Mark. There are a few spottings on PN that I have never forgotten (Never thought I'd see 'em.) One by one...I am though...PN has taught me to " see."
Amazing similar antennal tips to some hesperiids.
Congrats on finding it at last.
