Monarch Butterfly

Danaus plexippus

Description:

Family: Nymphalidae, Subfamily: Danainae. A milkweed butterfly, but enjoys goldenrod also. One black spot on each lower wing indicates a male. 4 inch wingspan (10.2 cm) Gorgeous orange and black.

Habitat:

Meadow with abundant weeds and flowers

Notes:

Cameo appearance of Goldenrod (white) Crab Spider and victim. Video included.
