Swamp Sparrow

Melospiza georgiana

Description:

Looks similar to a Song Sparrow, but with no streaking on a gray breast. Dark body with rusty colored crown and wings. Shorter bill, long tail and white throat. This is a migrating bird from the midwest states.

Habitat:

Found mostly near water, marshes. Skulking and foraging in reeds, cattails and other plants near water. Feeding on seeds, fruits, small insects and aquatic invertebrates.
