A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Melospiza georgiana
Looks similar to a Song Sparrow, but with no streaking on a gray breast. Dark body with rusty colored crown and wings. Shorter bill, long tail and white throat. This is a migrating bird from the midwest states.
Found mostly near water, marshes. Skulking and foraging in reeds, cattails and other plants near water. Feeding on seeds, fruits, small insects and aquatic invertebrates.
