American Red Squirrel

Tamiasciurus hudsonicus

Description:

It was apparent that the squirrels have been busy in our back yard recently. It is easy to tell as squirrels can leave tell tale signs. I look for three key pieces of evidence that are often easier to find than scat or prints. 1. Squirrels will chew off branches from trees to sharpen their teeth. If you see lots of small branches on the ground, look at the ends to see if they have been chewed. 2. Squirrels eat pine cones. What is left is a stripped cone. 3. Midden is the left overs squirrels leave. Look for large piles of pine cone scales.

? Strange that they do not show. I have uploaded them a couple of times. All the pics have similar resolutions.
