Description:

Family: Nymphalidae, Subfamily: Danainae. Wingspan: 3 1/2 - 4 inches (8.9 - 10.2 cm) A milkweed butterfly. Female. Orange with dark black veins and white spots. The most famous North American butterfly. Feeding on small white asters, daisies and goldenrod as well as other nectar of weeds. Hosts: Milkweed

Habitat:

Meadow with abundant flowers and weeds.

Notes:

One of 3 Monarchs flying around the meadow. Cameo appearance by Banded Garden Spider (Argiope trifasciata)
