Description:

The larvae of tiny flies called Gall Midges develop in these one celled "blister galls". Brown, pea-sized galls on the leaves of a young Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra). Most of the leaves on this particular tree were affected.

Habitat:

Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Islip, New York.
