Striga hermonthica
Herbaceous parasitic plant some 40 cm tall, with pale-pink to pink flowers. Flowers are about 3 to 4 cm in length.
In Africa and with subsistence farmers, this plant is a serious problem, greatly affecting various crops: sorghum, rice, millet, maize and sugarcane. Here observed in maize fields, in lowlands and on banks of river, in central Nigeria.
