Minute Pirate Bug

Description:

The mouthparts on this very small bug, 5 mm long, forms a trunk that it uses to sting and feed on aphids. The head, pronotum and scutellum is entirely black and the legs are orange-brown. These small insects can bite humans, however, they do not feed on human blood or inject venom.

Habitat:

In a small park on low vegetation.
