Anthidium manicatum
Roughly 15 millimeters in body length, males larger than females. Colored black with yellow markings as shown.
Bees were in a landscaped demonstration garden of the Colorado Springs Horticultural Society at the north end of Monument Valley Park. Native habitat is riparian corridor with cottonwood, elm trees dominating.
This is an introduced species to North America. Males are very aggressive toward other bees, guarding territories around flower gardens that the females frequent.
