Sandhill Milkweed

Asclepius humistrata

Description:

Unbranched, thick stems. Leaves about 3-4" long. Thick, rubbery, grayish green, with pale pink veins. Prostrate or nearly so, not upright like other milkweeds.

Habitat:

Longleaf Pine/Turkey Oak Sandhill. Which my property once was.

Notes:

Delighted to discover this as I was battling the cursed Cogon grass. Good thing this species is prostrate or it would have been whacked too! (I've put large stakes at both locations so nobody mows it!)
