I think its a juvenile female, all juveniles and female adult are almost identical but the eye patch of the female extends to the bill. The male has a white head with a small black cap on top. It is a European relative of the Ruddy Duck. If you search my spottings you should find some males, I posted lots.
What a bill on this duck! Is this the female? Curious name.
