Hi Gully, marks comment lead me to see your comment of 5 months ago!! Thank you, very interesting. Looks very similar to the one I saw, but so far haven't found mention of it growing in Vancouver.
Hmm... I've never seen any shaggy or scaly Mycenas before so I was doubtful these were. However, it seems there are in fact a group of Mycena which display veil remnants - Mycena sect. Sacchariferae. Looks likely, but I should think it would be very hard to get further than this without a microscope.
thanks Argy Bee. I looked up the photos of mycena sp. Haha, there are hundreds of different ones, many of which match some of my smaller fungi spottings, but many of the ones that look alike to me have different type species. it would really need an expert!
Wow lucky day Pam... 2 in 1 spotting! The tall skinny one might be a mycena sp. and the short fat one... ? maybe just call them Laurel and Hardy for a while.
