A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Osmia sp.
Roughly 10 millimeters in body length, wholly metallic green in color as shown.
The bee was one of several visiting Penstemon flowers in a vacant lot in a residential neighborhood. Lot is a field of very short grass, wild alfalfa, and a variety of wildflowers. Unfortunately, the property owners mow it regularly.
This is a species in the subgenus Melanosmia.
