Description:

Roughly 10 millimeters in body length, wholly metallic green in color as shown.

Habitat:

The bee was one of several visiting Penstemon flowers in a vacant lot in a residential neighborhood. Lot is a field of very short grass, wild alfalfa, and a variety of wildflowers. Unfortunately, the property owners mow it regularly.

Notes:

This is a species in the subgenus Melanosmia.
