Allium triquetrum
Clumping plants about a foot tall with long grass like leaves, delicately stalked white pendulous flowers in a cluster on tips of triangular green tall stalks.
Grows densely as weeds among grass, everywhere in Spring.
They have a distinct smell of onion/garlic. You can smell them from a distance, especially after the grass is mown. An interesting thing about these strong smelling plants are that they are edible - can be substituted for spring onions !! Another one to try out..... Have a look at the first two web link below: http://wildpicnic.blogspot.com.au/2009/0... http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?Lati... http://www.gw.govt.nz/onion-weed-allium-... Plants are said to be toxic to animals -dogs are vulnerable as well..
