Field Wolf Spider

Hogna helluo

Description:

Female of the species. Apparently they can squeeze under doors or through small cracks. Because of their large size, they inspire considerable fear when discovered indoors. This fear is not justified, as they rarely bite, and only if provoked. The bite is not considered dangerous.

Habitat:

My living room in my previous house.

Notes:

I captured this large spider as it scurried across my living room floor. At first glance I thought it to be a mouse due to it's size. The pictures are terrible as this occurred at 1 am and I was using an old iPhone 3G. I released it in the woods across the street from my house. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/9/pdf...
