Brittle gill sp.

Russula sp.

Description:

Growing under oak on tuft of grass (pic 4). Spore print white. Reaction to ferrous sulphate powder (iron salts?) was nothing at first but after a few minutes it turned an orange tinted beige colour (pic 5) on stem (and also the cap flesh but not in the pic). Cap and gills particularly brittle and dry in the mouth when chewing. Cap waxy and sticky on my lips. No distinctive smell. Taste was a bit creamy and then very spicy but not the same sort of spicy that I'd expect from capsaicin (the chemical in chilli peppers). Top left of the cap in 5th pic has also had ferrous sulphate and may have also tinted a little orange
