Elkhorn Fern

Platycerium bifurcatum

Description:

Velvety leafs in the shape of deer antlers. It has two kind of leaves. Flattish ones at the base were it attaches to the tree, and the hanging velvety ones that hang down. It also has some weird looking attachment under the hanging leaves that look a bit discolored and it seems like a landingstrip of some sort :-)

Habitat:

Our garden, Thalang, Phuket, Thailand

Notes:

I just think this plant is fascinating and I just love the way the leaves fold in and out of each other.
