Turkey Vulture

Description:

Very large bird with mostly black bird. Muture Turkey vultures have featherless red heads. These birds locate with smell and sight.

Habitat:

Woodlands and open rural area and can be seen in soaring over urban areas as well.

Notes:

In this area, central Illinois, the Turkey Vulture is expanding it's summer range to the west. Over tje last few years it has become much more common here.
