Pigface

Carpobrotus glaucescens

Notes:

I have no idea why this plant is called 'pigface'! It is a succulent coastal groundcover native to temperate eastern Australia. Apparently the fruit pulp is edible, with a flavour like salty strawberry, kiwifruit or banana (depending on what source you read - I'm not game to try it out in case I have the ID wrong and it's some sort of poisonous thing)!! Leaf juice can be applied to marine stings, and it contains local anaesthetic for sunburn, scalds and insect bites.
