Nutria (Copyu)

Myocastor coypus

Description:

I'm told they're good eatin'.

Habitat:

Found in the lake at Hermann Park in Houston, TX. They're everywhere in that area.

Notes:

Watched a lady feeding this not-so-little one some bread, and she was kind enough to let me get in close and snap some photos on my phone. These are incredibly tame, but blah blah blah probably not a good idea to try and touch them, etc. You should know the drill by now.

Hi, Keith! The nutrias in Hermann Park are the only ones I've ever encountered up close in the wild. These may simply be used to all the people by this point, but I'm obviously no expert.

Surprised they come up to people and aren't afraid
