Paronychia patula or rugelii. I understand that these are difficult to ID to species by photos alone. I love this plant because the flower clusters are square-shaped, which is pretty unusual

Habitat:

Sandy forest floor near pine and oak trees. The ground was fairly clear from shrubs and debris in this area. Withlacoochee State Forest Citrus Tract
