Description:

This large butterfly is part of the longwing family and is bright orange in colour. it is similar to the flambeau apart from the two white spots on the uppermost part of each wing.

Habitat:

It is commonly seen in parks and gardens aswell as open land in South and central America.

Thankyou, I was actually taking a curly flower at the time when it landed in the same area so I snapped it quickly before it flew off a second later. I had seen that it was also known as a gulf fritillary but I believe its the same butterfly, will have a look at your caterpillars next. thanks for the link.
