Aplomado Falcon

Falco femoralis

Description:

This Falcon is a similar size to a peregrine falcon and in the Americas is often confused with a bat falcon. It has a typical falcon 'moustache' in contrast to its white throat and eye stripe. It has a long barred tail and a creamy coloured underbelly that meets two black patches on its underside.

Habitat:

savannahs and grasslands of South America mostly. It feeds on small vertebrates and larger invertebrates.
