Chocolate finger slime mould?

Stemonitis sp?

Description:

Each finger was about 1cm long growing on dead deciduous log. They sent off a puff of spores when touched. I got the Stemonitis idea from Leuba's spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/992... or maybe it could be Comatricha typhoides?
