Velvet Ant

Mutilidae, Hymenoptera, Trogaspidia sp.

Description:

A beautiful red black white dotted velvet ant. It was 1.5 cm along length.

Habitat:

Lower Himalayas.

Notes:

They are actually wasps. The females are wingless.

Hi Harsha Singh. This insect is commonly called Velvet ant, yet is not an ant, is a wingless wasp from Mutilidae family.
