Description:

round head, short tail, stocky body, males have gray heads, white cheeks, a black bib, and rufous neck; most of ours are dull and grubby; Females are a plain buffy-brown overall with dingy gray-brown underneath and stiped buff, black, and brown backs; about 6 inches long

Habitat:

These birds have nests all around our school building on the ledges underneath the covered walkways and in holes in the roof, they often fly out an surprise us when we walk by

Notes:

They are around year round, there are many of them & they are a constant presence. Cleaning the poop off the walkways is a nuisance.
