Genus: Spilichneumon
An orange-red Ichneumon wasp with dark wings. Black eyes and 3 small conspicuous black dots on top of its head. Wasps in the Genus: Spilichneumon are not well known. The female hunts for caterpillars to feed her larval offspring.
Spotted in Kittitas County, Washington State. Mostly open conifer forest nearby.
