Argiope aurantia
A very attractive spider. Wikipedia claims this species gets to be "0.75 - 1.1". This lady measured a leg span of 2.5", and body length of approx .88". (She did not appreciate me measuring her, as she began to bounce her web wildly front to back like a swing! )
Garden, Ranger Station, Silver Springs State Park.

Very nice picture. They are about the same size, and probably as common as the banana spiders. However the banana spiders usually have much larger webs.
