A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Quiscalus quiscula
Often dismissed as simply blackbirds (Family Icteridae), I find this species to be beautiful with its iridescent colors and golden eyes.
Spotted in a residential backyard of Springfield, Missouri, in close proximity to a bird feeder.
Of all the backyard birds I encounter, I find the common grackle to be the most sensitive to movement and the first to take flight when I'm out to photograph them.
