Great Blue Heron

Ardea herodias

Description:

A large heron. The head, chest, and wing plumes give it a shaggy appearance. They appear blue-gray from a distance. They have long yellow legs, a thick, daggerlike bill and black stripe over their eye.

Habitat:

A second heron flew in to challenge the one fishing at the end of the pond. forced it to fly away then flew back down to the center of the large urban pond.
