Cardinalis cardinalis
Female Cardinals are pale brown overall with warm reddish tinges in the wings, tail, and crest. They have the same black face and red-orange bill. Male cardinals are brilliant red all over, with a reddish bill and black face immediately around the bill.
They can be found in southern Canada, through the eastern United States from Maine to Texas and south through Mexico. It is found in woodlands, gardens, shrublands, and swamps.
