Vole

Microtus sp.

Description:

This small rodent was spotted at the side of a path in the Don Valley. At first I thought I'd missed my chance to photograph him, but as I have learned over the years, I got my phone out and ready anyway. He hopped right back onto the path as if I wasn't even there, and let me photograph for a minute or so before running away. The thing that struck me most about this little guy is the short tail and big eyes.

Habitat:

Large urban park.
