Tar and cement polypore

Description:

Like a lump of concrete with tar on top

About 150mm across.
The edge was thick and velvety.

Habitat:

On the base of a very large eucalyptus in very wet rainforest in east Gippsland.

Notes:

I think this might be a dark form of Ganoderma sp?... to be confirmed.
