Herennia

Nephilidae

Description:

Female, about 40mm body size (approx.) flat white abdomen with black & brown pattern and dark head, legs in yellow & dark brown. Males are smaller in size and in red colour.

Habitat:

Spotted during a raining morning walk at Kebun Raya Cibodas, a 80ha area above 1.400 metres high, mix of botanical park with big trees & palms and surrounded by a rainforest at the foot of Gene volcano, Java - Indonesia. Herennia is a genus of spiders in the Nephilidae family with Australasian distribution.

Notes:

Thanks Felix, anyway the most similar I have been able to find differs from this as it usually shows yellow or orange perimeter at the edge of the head...
