Description:

What looks like a butterfly or moth is actually a planthopper in the Derbidae family. The body is around 5mm long, with very long forewings, giving the insect a wingspan of around 4cm. Main colour is white, with some beige towards the tip of the abdomen; the wings are semi-translucent, of a very light blue with a 'hairy' fringe.

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon region around Tena.
