Big Moth found trapped inside a house. 12-14 cm from tip to tip. Miembro de la familia Noctuinae, Buteo como Búho.
A muchos les atrae el azúcar y las flores ricas en néctar.
Algunos miembros de la familia son depredados por los murciélagos. Sin embargo, se defienden bien porque han desarrollado un sistema evasivo por escucha de las notas ultrasónicas que emite el mamífero volador para localizar presas; un delicadísimo órgano auditivo envía señales nerviosas a los músculos alares provocando microespasmos, causando que la mariposa vuele muy erráticamente. Y este movimiento azaroso tiene el efecto de evadir al cazador entrante en su vuelo.

Hi Andres, This is not a butterfly but a moth! Most likely a species of Ascalapha, or maybe something in the Genus Zale. I'm not sure what you have down there. Good luck!
