Yes they are the same genus Lars. These things are actually true fungi - not like slime molds. They are saprophitic, have chitin in their walls and produce spores. Cool mushrooms! There's a wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhizopus and one similar to yours I found a few months ago http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/119...
