Pseudococcus sp.
A Fairy? I was so surprised when I saw this slow flying moth? with its long tails and all white. Very small, about 10 mm.
In a clearing in an oak forest.
Maybe it was longer than 10 mm with the cerci things but not longer than 15 mm. Thank you Lauren.
Now with an ID. Thank you ChunXingWong, LaurenZarate, Argy Bee and martinl for all your interest to ID this beautiful insect.
Congratulations to all! Hurray! A male mealy bug! My daughter is still in hysterics. She preferred the Fairy. Was it 10 mm with the cerci things included? This was amazing.
I think that Chung is correct. This is a male scale bug or mealy bug http://www.fotolog.com/treebeard/6320137...

I agree it looks 2 but I had a hanging fly yesterday that looked 2 and another 2 were just not in view :( ...Maybe Juan di Trani will know...
Meropeidae has only 2 members - earwig flies and forcep flies. All of this order (Mecoptera) has four wings. Can't tell for sure how many wings with yours Luis? Interesting critter.. maybe mayfly, stonefly, caddisfly...?
This might be a Mecoptera Scorpionfly of the Family Meropeidae. They are supposed to have species with long cerci like caudal appendages.
