Tau Emerald Dragonfly -female

Hemicordulia tau

Description:

a medium-sized butterfly with a wing span of about 50mm. Darh ead with brown eyes. A black tapering body with yellow crescent shaped patterns hugging the abdomen with tapered ends pointing upwards. The last segment had a yellow spot. Wings were delicately veined with a brownish yellow pterositgma.

Habitat:

Resting on a young eucalyptus tree.

Notes:

This is probably a female because of the tapering abdomen. This female was missing a piece of the tip of the left wing. It was resting hanging down. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...
