Common Small Mantid

Tropidomantis tenera

Description:

A small adult praying mantis at only 22mm in length. See last photo for comparison. Light green in color, fully grown wings, short antennae. Wavy red bands is seen on the back of it's eyes. I am not sure whether this is a male of a female. These miniature Tropidomantis tenera are fairly common at night during my stay there. This species is also found around Southeast Asia.

Habitat:

Plants or near night lights in Maliau Basin Study Centre, near Tawau town, Sabah

Notes:

They look like the common green species, only that this species are many times smaller. ID help by Dracomantis (Dracus) >>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter.
