Mainly growing on conifers, this one was spotted on one of its alternative hosts, a birch. Fomitopsis pinicola causes brown rot.

Yes, Adarhsha - looking very similar (in this state), different families, though: Your Reishi is of the family of Ganodermataceae, Red Banded Polypores are from the family of Fomitopsidaceae
