A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Small, hemiellipsoidal (major and minor horizontal axes ~ 3 cm and ~ 2 cm respectively) earthen nest, which resembles nothing so much as a micro-miniature ceramic pot or jug, built atop a small plastic table.
Suburban area on tropical upland plateau.
Spotted when I moved a cloth bag which normally rests atop the table cited supra. The bag holds pool toys used by my two small granddaughters when they play in a small plastic pool in my back yard. I moved to bag to collect said toys after a play session. The third and fourth images hereto were added to illustrate the general area of the spotting, and show the bag both removed from the table top, and replaced thereon. Two things: 1. The debris on the table top, and the uneven lip on the entrance to the nest, suggest that I damaged it when I moved the bag. More important, 2. I've noticed no wasps flying about anywhere in the general vicinity, so I have no clue as to which species of Potter Wasp constructed this nest.
